A stunning red and white giant flying squirrel with a long, chestnut-colored tail was spotted lingering and looking around the woods at night in Huaxiangxi National Nature Reserve, southwest China's Sichuan Province. This nocturnal mammal inhabits high-altitude dense forests and can glide through the air using its patagium, a thin membrane of skin that acts like wings. Thanks to continuous biodiversity monitoring efforts, the reserve has recorded a variety of rare wild animal species.
