China welcomes US President Donald Trump's state visit to China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press briefing on Wednesday.

Head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations, Guo said, adding that during the visit, the two heads of state will have in-depth exchanges on major issues concerning bilateral ties as well as world peace and development.

"China stands ready to work with the United States in the spirit of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit to expand cooperation, manage differences and inject more stability and certainty into the world amid turbulence and transformation," Guo said.
