Discovered in 1987 in the underground crypt of Famen Temple in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, the Tang imperial gold and silver tea wares comprise eight major categories, including tea storage vessels, tea roasting implements and tea measuring tools. Scholars believe that this set of imperial tea wares, distinguished by its high rank and rich cultural connotations, authentically recreates the Tang Dynasty (618-907) custom of decocting and boiling tea.
