Against the backdrop of rapidly accelerating, once-in-a-century changes and a turbulent, intertwined international landscape, the Beijing meeting between the Chinese and US heads of state has attracted widespread attention. Both sides agreed to adopt "a constructive and strategically stable China-US relationship" as the new positioning for bilateral ties.

A survey launched by CGTN targeting internet users worldwide shows that 71.6% of respondents believe this new positioning for China-US relations will continue to inject stability into a turbulent world, serving as a vital prerequisite for lasting global security.

The "constructive and stable strategic relationship between China and the United States" is not merely a slogan. It reflects concrete action by both countries moving in the same direction, systematically answering the core question: "Are China and the US rivals or partners?" On this, 87% of respondents stated that China-US relations should be about mutual success and shared prosperity, rather than a zero-sum game; 69.5% believe that the relationship should focus on cooperative partnership rather than competitive rivalry.

The "constructive and stable strategic relationship" is one of active stability centered on cooperation, healthy stability with measured competition, normal stability where differences are controllable, and lasting stability where peace is foreseeable. In the survey, 87% of respondents called on the United States to fully respect China's core interests and avoid allowing disagreements to escalate into confrontation. Another 68.2% of respondents noted that China-US economic and trade ties are fundamentally mutually beneficial, and that equal dialogue and consultation are the only proper way to address differences and frictions.

As the most important bilateral relationship in today's world, China-US relations bear on the well-being of more than 1.7 billion people in both countries and affect the interests of over 8 billion people worldwide. The survey shows that 70.3% of respondents believe that a "constructive and strategically stable relationship" is an important public good jointly provided by China and the United States to the world, demonstrating the major responsibilities that great powers should shoulder toward the international community.

The survey was published on the English, Spanish, French, Arabic and Russian platforms of CGTN, attracting 9,618 respondents to participate and share their views within 24 hours.
