Hopefully, the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump in Beijing will lead to a constructive China-US relationship defined by strategic stability. It will open a new chapter in bilateral relations, steering both nations toward shared interests for greater economic stability, sustainability, deeper political understanding and meaningful diplomacy.
The two leaders' dialogue in the Great Hall of the People, lasting over two hours, was positive, productive and participatory, highlighting the strategic importance of this meeting. It conveyed a message of hope and harmony, alongside the need for robust socio-economic and political cooperation for a speedy global economic recovery and ensuring the resilience of sustainable supply chains and industrial ecosystems.
Xi highlighted the need to jointly set the course and steer the giant ship of China-US relations, aiming to make 2026 a landmark year. The new vision he emphasized stands for constructive strategic stability: a positive stability with cooperation as the main pillar, managed through mutually agreed constructive competition, a constant stability that handles differences and an enduring stability grounded in the promise of peace.
He outlined a new strategic roadmap for greater socio-economic cooperation, financial integration, industrial collaboration and political and diplomatic coordination, to be realized through concrete actions by both sides.
Prior to this summit, the two heads of state maintained sound communication over the past year, including multiple phone calls and a successful meeting in Busan, the Republic of Korea, vividly reflecting that differences can be overcome through constant dialogue, diplomacy and development benefiting both countries' economies, communities and enterprises.
Since the Busan meeting, China-US relations have remained stable and are moving toward greater sustainability, a development welcomed by the international community as a good omen for the world economy.
Their head-of-state diplomacy has positively influenced economic and trade relations. Xi dubbing China-US economic ties as mutually beneficial and win-win in nature is the cornerstone of this cooperation. Where disagreements and frictions exist, equal-footed consultation is the only right choice. So, the most important outcome of this meeting is a new vision, defining a constructive China-US relationship across four areas of stability and marking a new chapter with practical significance. This new vision is pro-development, pro-cooperation and pro-coordination, carrying a positive vibe for both countries and the global economy as well.
The participation of over a dozen American business leaders including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in the dialogue reflects the continued confidence American businesses have in the vast Chinese consumer market.

Enterprises from both sides continue to pursue two-way investment opportunities. Tesla's Shanghai gigafactory rolled out its 4-millionth vehicle in December 2025, while 95% of its components is sourced locally from China.
A survey conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce in China confirms this increasing business confidence. The results showed that more than half of the surveyed companies continued to rank China among their top three global investment destinations. When meeting with the US entrepreneurs, Xi's statement that China's door remains open and is opening wider conveyed the commitment to further opening up, modernization, and quality development, welcoming mutually beneficial cooperation.
This head-of-state meeting is going to significantly impact global economic governance and inject momentum into global development. The concurring statements and promises all clearly indicate a mutual consensus for the formation of a new vision of equal and productive progress, shared prosperity and peaceful conflict resolution.
Both countries should translate this new vision into action for the steady, sound and sustainable development of China-US relations. They should expand their areas of cooperation and shorten the list of problems in the true spirit of equality, respect and mutual benefit, promoting the healthy, stable and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade ties.
