China's 'Jiuzhang 4.0' takes optical quantum computing to new heights

Chinese scientists authored a study published Wednesday in the journal Nature detailing a programmable quantum computing prototype called "Jiuzhang 4.0," marking a major breakthrough in optical quantum computing power.

The name "Jiuzhang" comes from Jiuzhang Suanshu or the Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art – one of the oldest and most influential works in the history of Chinese mathematics.
