What do global mayors do in Chengdu? Apparently, fall in love with pandas – just like the rest of us. After all, no trip to the capital city of Sichuan Province is complete without saying hello to its most beloved and fluffiest of "diplomats," right?

On May 15, foreign delegates attending the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue in Chengdu explored some of the best the city has to offer – from the iconic Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, home to the famously endearing black-and-white residents, to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, the world's only ancient irrigation system still in operation today.
