Ciren Cuomu, born in 1997 in Rikaze, Xizang, is a Chinese marathon runner. She started from rural fields and rose to become the first woman from Xizang to compete in a World Championships marathon (Doha 2019). At the 2025 National Games, she won silver in the marathon in 2:30:25 and bronze in the 10,000m, setting the best marathon result ever for Xizang and bringing honor to her homeland.
In this episode, Ciren Cuomu reflected on leaving home at age 14 to pursue running — initially scared and reluctant, until her grandfather encouraged her to take the first step. She opened up about her career low point before the 2021 National Games, when she suddenly "couldn't run anymore," and how she fought through the slump to make a triumphant comeback. She shared how her love for running — and the support of national policies — transformed her life. Her story added a vivid and inspiring chapter to the unfolding portrait of sports in Xizang.
