In a tense Race 1 of the FIM Supersport World Championship at the Czech Round in Prague, French rider Valentin Debise, representing China's ZXMOTO, celebrated his fourth win of the season on Saturday.
Though Debise qualified third in Friday's Superpole session, a three-place grid penalty for slow riding in free practice saw him start Race 1 from sixth position. The opening laps proved challenging as he struggled to gain ground, trailing behind several Yamaha competitors.
The turning point came on Lap 7 when Debise began to assert himself, navigating through the field with determination. Despite the tightly packed leading group, he managed to maintain his advantage, denying his rivals any clear chances to overtake.
After 19 intense laps, Debise crossed the finish line first, also setting the race's fastest lap on his final circuit with an impressive time of 1 minute 34.336 seconds. Yamaha riders Can Oncu and Albert Arenas secured second and third places, respectively.
This victory propelled Debise to third in the riders' standings with 122 points, now only eight points shy of second-placed Spaniard Jaume Masia. Meanwhile, ZXMOTO sits third in the manufacturers' standings with 124 points, underscoring the growing impact of the Chinese manufacturer in the championship.
