A recent public notice from Maowusu, the fourth largest sandy area in China, has captured attention online. It was initiated by Yin Yuzhen, a national model worker in China who has long been dedicated to combating desertification and planting trees in the region.
In 1999, her efforts to restore the Maowusu sandy area deeply moved an American friend, Ronald Sakolsky, who donated $5,000. Over the years, through Yin Yuzhen's meticulous care, the donation has helped grow more than 50,000 large trees.
Yin now hopes to find her old friend, Mr. Sakolsky, and, on behalf of this forest, sincerely invites him to the Maowusu sandy area to witness this lush green landscape in person.
