China highly appreciates Seychelles, along with many other friendly countries, for lawfully and openly revoking the outbound flight permits for Lai Ching-te, a leading figure of the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during talks with Barry Faure, minister of foreign affairs and diaspora of Seychelles, in Beijing.

He said China also appreciates that Seychelles issued a statement publicly reiterating its firm stance on adhering to the one-China principle.

Noting that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Seychelles, Wang said over the past 50 years, the two countries have upheld mutual support on issues concerning their core interests and mutual assistance in their national and economic development.

The one-China principle has long been an international consensus, he said, adding that the authority of UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 is beyond question.

China will eventually achieve complete reunification and Taiwan will return to the embrace of the motherland, Wang said, expressing belief that more and more countries will, like Seychelles, stand on the side of international justice and historical correctness.

Wang said China stands ready to work with Seychelles to promote cooperation in areas such as the digital economy, marine economy, island economy and green economy, and to elevate the China-Seychelles strategic partnership to a higher level.
