A moderate earthquake struck Myanmar at around 8:35 a.m. local time on Monday, with strong tremors felt in the commercial hub, Yangon.
According to Myanmar's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the quake had a magnitude of 5.2. The epicenter was located at 16.51 degrees north latitude and 96.34 degrees east longitude, about 14.5 km south of Kyauktan township, with a focal depth of 40 km.
The GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted near the south coast of Myanmar at 0205 GMT on Monday.
No casualties or property damage have been reported so far.
