Four people were confirmed dead and five others remain missing after sudden, extremely heavy rainfall triggered severe flooding and landslides in Guiding County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities said Tuesday.

China's national commission for disaster prevention, reduction and relief on Tuesday activated a Level-IV disaster relief emergency response for the affected areas, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management.
