The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines said it has sent officials to the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation detention facility to pay consular visits to 69 Chinese workers.
The Philippineauthorities raided a steel manufacturing plant in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental province, on May 15 and arrested 69 Chinese nationals and one Filipino.
The embassy urged the Philippine side to handle the relevant cases as soon as possible in a lawful, fair and appropriate manner, and to effectively safeguard the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.
