China Media Group's Global Chinese Program Center released 42 new programs at a mid-year event in Beijing on Tuesday, outlining a wide-ranging content slate focused on China's modernization, cultural heritage, public well-being and international exchanges.

The launch, themed "mountains and rivers in view, tides connecting the world," presented the programs across five categories: development, regional transformation, cultural heritage, public life, and global engagement.

The development category includes programs on future industries, intelligent manufacturing, emerging productive forces, free trade zones, vocational skills and global supply chains. Among them, one series will follow key industrial chains to show how China's manufacturing ecosystem connects with global businesses.

The regional and documentary category focuses on changes across China's landscapes and communities, including the Qinghai-Xizang Railway, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Guizhou, Changbai Mountain and southwest China.

The cultural category features documentaries, music programs, interviews, food shows and cross-Strait youth projects, aiming to present Chinese civilization through contemporary storytelling and multimedia formats.

Several programs will focus on health, tourism and everyday life, including public health specials, medical knowledge programs, travel shows, food culture and home improvement content.

The global engagement category highlights China's opening up and people-to-people exchanges. Programs will cover Chinese enterprises overseas, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2026 meetings in Shenzhen, overseas Chinese communities, visa-free travel in China, sister-city food culture, marine ecological protection and China-Europe cultural exchanges.

A China-Russia co-produced documentary on the final battle against Japan's Kwantung Army during World War II will also air globally from May 20 on CCTV-4 and RT channels.

CMG said its 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala will be held in Huainan, east China's Anhui Province, continuing its focus on combining cultural programming with tourism and local heritage.

The release reflects CMG's effort to build a diversified global Chinese-language content matrix, combining documentaries, news features, variety programs, short videos, cultural shows and multimedia products to reach audiences at home and abroad.
