China and the United States have agreed to launch an intergovernmental dialogue on artificial intelligence (AI), Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Tuesday.
Guo made the remarks at a regular press briefing when asked about exchanges between the two heads of state on AI regulation.
As two major AI powers, China and the US should work together to promote AI development and governance, and help ensure the technology better serves human progress and the common good of the international community, Guo said.
He added that during US President Donald Trump's visit to China, the two heads of state had constructive exchanges on AI and agreed to hold an intergovernmental dialogue on the issue.
