China's pure electric container ship begins sea trial

China's 10,000-tonne-class pure electric intelligent container ship departed for sea trial on Wednesday. Measuring 127.8 meters long and 21.6 meters wide, the Ning Yuan Dian Peng vessel can carry 740 TEUs, or standard 20-foot container slots. Powered by 10 containerized battery units, it adopts a dual-mode charging system combining high-voltage shore power and rapid container-swapping.
