Chinese authorities on significance of zero-tariff policy

At the beginning of May, China implemented the zero-tariff policy covering all tariff lines for the 53 African countries with diplomatic ties with China. On Tuesday, Chinese authorities in Beijing briefed the media on the significance of the historic move. Liu Yuxi is the Ambassador for the Affairs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He said the zero-tariff measure can bring tangible results in bilateral trade expansion. He also said the high-quality growth of the Chinese economy can create more opportunities for fellow developing countries in Africa and beyond. Chen Yusong is the Deputy Director General of the WTO Affairs Department of the Chinese Commerce Ministry. He said the implementation of the policy marks a new start for China and Africa to deepening economic and trade cooperation.
