US Vice President JD Vance said at a White House press conference on May 19 that a US troop deployment to Poland had been delayed, but added it was not accurate to say the troops were being withdrawn from Europe.
Vance said he believes this is not bad for Europe, but rather an encouragement for the continent to "take more ownership." He stated that the "United States cannot be the policeman of the world," adding that Europe must stand more firmly on its own feet, and that will continue to be US policy toward Europe.
