Hot Take: How Lhasa is turning barren mountains green

In Lhasa, the capital of China's Xizang Autonomous Region, barren slopes are turning green. Since 2018, workers at elevations above four thousand meters have planted more than 55 million trees across the city's northern and southern mountains. In the thin air and rocky terrain, every sapling is hard-won. The goal: transform Lhasa into a city embraced by forests. Lhasa is proving that even at extreme altitudes, nature can thrive with determination and long-term vision.
