The SMILE space explorer has successfully embarked on a mission to deepen the understanding of space weather and how the Earth is shielded from the sun. The mission marks the first time the European Space Agency and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have jointly designed, launched and operated a space mission. Colin Forsyth, co-principal investigator for the mission, spoke to CGTN.
