In the heart of Barkhor Old Town in Lhasa, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, ancient courtyards and quiet alleys hold stories of generations. Residents share laughter over sweet tea in sunlit yards while young people indulge in traditional Guozhuang dances, keeping customs alive.

"It's more than just scenery – it's my home," says local media practitioner Gongdan Pingcuo as he shows the rhythms of daily life.

Elders recount how life has changed over time, reflecting on improvements and the happiness in their everyday routines. Walking through the city, one feels the harmony of past and present, where centuries-old architecture meets the vibrant energy of today, and the joy, pride and warmth of the people shine through. From elders' memories to the lives of the young, CGTN's Merna Al Nasser spends a day discovering how life in Lhasa has evolved across generations and how the city's story continues to unfold in every courtyard, alley and park.
