Editor's note: What if, instead of headlines, you followed an American journalist into Xizang itself? In Xizang Untangled, American comedian and journalist Lee Camp travels across China's Xizang Autonomous Region on an eye-opening journey. From mountain villages and monastic classrooms to fragile wetlands and wildlife sanctuaries, this three-part series challenges long-held assumptions and reveals the lives of real people beyond the headlines. Here comes the first episode: Not One Left Behind.

On the banks of the Lhasa River lies Sanyou – where every resident has housing, industry, and access to healthcare. Built in just five months, this small village is now brimming with happiness. Behind that is the tireless work of grassroots cadres, passing the baton year after year. Renowned American journalist and comedian Lee Camp follows Huade Mallah, first secretary of the CPC branch of Sanyou Village, to uncover the real story behind the smiles. Between jokes and curious cows, Hua throws a piercing question at Lee: Are the American people happy? Episode Two of Xizang Untangled, titled Not One Left Behind, is now live. Join us as we search for the answer.
