China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong on Thursday called on all parties to fully implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement and urged efforts to advance the "two-state solution."

Addressing a UN Security Council meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli issue, Fu stated that while the Gaza ceasefire agreement reached last October has brought some improvement, the war is far from over. He noted that Israel has continued near-daily bombings and attacks since the deal was reached, resulting in more than 870 deaths.

"China calls on all parties, especially Israel, to fully comply with the ceasefire agreement," Fu said, urging international guarantors and influential powers to take proactive steps to preserve the truce.

Fu stressed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, with persistent shortages in basic supplies including drinking water, medical supplies and fuel, while large numbers of people remain without shelter.

"Israel must fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law as the occupying power, lift restrictions on the entry of humanitarian supplies, and allow urgently needed medicines, fuel and shelter materials into Gaza," he said.

Fu said the "two-state solution" is the only viable path to resolving the Palestinian question. Any arrangement or establishment of new mechanisms must adhere to the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" and respect the wishes of the Palestinian people, he said.

The international community should reject any unilateral actions that erode the foundation of the "two-state solution" and oppose any attempt to alter the demographic or territorial structure of Gaza, Fu added.
