In Lhasa, CGTN reporter Ali sat down with Yunggie Ma, a musician from Xizang. First rising to fame in 2011 through a TV show, she has been creating works in the independent music scene for years. Today, she continues to perform her signature Dancing and Sighing series with her band — blending artistic chanting and dramatic spoken words to share her observations of life. As an inheritor of Traditional Monpa Songs, she sings ancient folk songs from her hometown, Motuo. Her daughter has returned from Shanghai to Lhasa and mastered fluent Tibetan, which fills Yunggie Ma with joy. Through music, she heals others and finds inner healing herself.
