A gas explosion hit the Liushenyu coal mine in Changzhi city, north China's Shanxi Province at 7:29 pm on Friday. A total of 82 people were confirmed dead and two remained missing, as of late Saturday.
A specialized underground rescue robot has been deployed at the site of the mine accident to support ongoing search efforts.
According to CGTN on-site reporter, Ning Hong, the robot is equipped with infrared imaging technology and gas detection sensors to assist in locating the two workers who remain missing.
Designed for extreme underground conditions, the robot can navigate flooded tunnels and toxic environments that are too dangerous for human rescuers, providing vital information to aid the operation.
