As China and Pakistan celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations, marked by the Pakistani prime minister's visit to China, the Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar celebrates its own two-year anniversary of delivering life-changing healthcare.
This flagship project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has redefined regional medical standards. As of May 2026, the hospital has recorded an extraordinary 603,178 total patient touchpoints. This includes 513,956 outpatient consultations, 79,804 emergency department attendances, and 5,004 safe deliveries in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, alongside 2,784 surgeries and 1,630 CT scans, standing as a towering testament to the ironclad friendship between the two nations.
Gwadar's first gastroenterology and hepatology department
Marking its second anniversary, the hospital achieved a breakthrough in local medical history. On April 22, 2026, the hospital formally launched its specialized Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, bringing gastroenterology and endoscopic services to Gwadar for the very first time. This critical addition introduces modern diagnostic and treatment options for prevalent conditions such as ulcers, chronic constipation, diarrhea and complex liver diseases.
Reflecting on this advancement, Campus Head Dr. Affan Faigzada described the establishment of the department as a blessing for the people of this region. Patients suffering from intricate gastrointestinal and liver ailments no longer need to travel long distances for quality treatment; they can now access timely, modern care in their home district.
