In less than two years, a geospatial training hub in Deqing County, Zhejiang Province, has trained over 3,000 participants from around the world – about one third of them from Belt and Road partner countries.

On May 23, the Moganshan International Institute for Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation officially inaugurated its Laoling campus. The institute operates under the UN-GGKIC, the first UN specialized agency headquartered at the Chinese county level. It focuses on education, talent development, and international exchange in the geospatial sector, with a market-oriented operation and globally focused curriculum.

The inauguration marks a milestone in Deqing’s 15-year effort to embed itself into national strategy, global industrial chains, and international cooperation networks. Local officials say the institute will help meet robust global demand for China’s geospatial expertise and export capacity.
