Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Monday that Iran is negotiating an end to the war and is not currently discussing nuclear issues.
Esmaeil Baghaei said conclusions have been reached on many topics discussed in a potential memorandum of understanding with the US, but this does not mean Tehran is close to signing an agreement.
Iran's Students News Agency reported on Sunday, citing a senior Iranian diplomat, that neither side had made any commitments regarding nuclear issues or highly enriched uranium in a preliminary draft agreement reached between Iran and the United States.
A senior Iranian source told Reuters on the same day that Tehran has not agreed to hand over its highly enriched uranium stockpile.
"The nuclear issue will be addressed in negotiations for a final agreement and are therefore not part of the current deal. There has been no agreement over Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpile to be shipped out of the country," the source said.
According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday Iran is "ready to assure the world we do not seek nuclear weapons." Iran does not seek regional instability, he said, adding that "the one seeking to destabilize the region" is Israel.
Baghaei also said Iran would not discuss specific details regarding control over the Strait of Hormuz in its memorandum of understanding with the United States, noting that the management of the strait is a matter for the Gulf littoral states themselves.
