Dubbed "an oil painting in embroidery," Manchu embroidery, also known as Bohai Mohe embroidery, is the traditional handicraft of the Man ethnic group in northeast China and a national-level intangible cultural heritage, featuring thick and three-dimensional effects. Take a look at some of the creations by Sun Yanling, a representative inheritor of Manchu embroidery from Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang. She started learning the handicraft in childhood and has since created a list of award-winning artworks by inheriting and modifying traditional stitching techniques.
