The number of cross-Strait passenger trips through Xiamen Port in southeast China's Fujian Province exceeded 1 million as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, representing a year-on-year increase of more than 20% and marking the earliest date on record for reaching the one-million mark, according to official data.
Data from the Gaoqi Border Inspection Station under the Xiamen Border Inspection General Station also showed that the Xiamen-Kinmen "Mini Three Links" route, which provides direct ferry services between the two locations, handled more than 800,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips, up nearly 25% year on year, making it a key channel for cross-Strait personnel exchanges.
As one of the three "Mini Three Links" routes at Xiamen Port, the Xiamen-Kinmen route now operates an average of 24 round-trip sailings per day.
The data also showed that since the beginning of this year, the Gaoqi Border Inspection Station has processed nearly 60,000 passenger trips by residents from Fujian Province and east China's Shanghai Municipality to Kinmen. It has also handled more than 30,000 passenger trips made by Taiwan residents visiting the Chinese mainland for the first time, marking a year-on-year increase of more than 60%.
