Heavy rain triggered fast-rising floodwaters in Gushi County, central China's Henan Province, trapping 17 goats on a river shoal, with the current growing stronger by the minute.
As evening approached and the river level continued to rise, firefighters launched an urgent rescue operation. Using drones to scout the terrain and map a safe route, rescue teams crossed the swollen river by rubber boat and carried the goats to safety one by one.
After nearly 90 minutes battling rain, rushing water and difficult terrain, all 17 goats were safely brought back to shore.
