Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says China and Pakistan have maintained high-level political mutual trust, pragmatic cooperation, and international collaboration, setting a model for state-to-state relations. He made the remarks in Beijing when meeting with visiting Pakistani Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir. Wang Yi welcomed Pakistani Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir's visit to China, together with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said no matter how much the international and regional situations change, the friendship between China and Pakistan remains as solid as a rock and unbreakable. Wang added that the Pakistani military has always been an important force in promoting China-Pakistan cooperation, and he believes that it will make new contributions to deepening the traditional friendship and building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future. Pakistani Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir, said the four major global initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Belt and Road Initiative have played a pivotal role in promoting world peace and development. He added his country would continue to fully promote the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Pakistani military leader also introduced the latest mediation efforts in the US-Iran conflict, stating that an agreement is close to being reached.
