A Chinese film showcase event opened in Johannesburg, South Africa, on May 26, bringing some of the Chinese blockbusters to local audiences, including the racing drama Pegasus 3 and martial arts epic Blade of the Guardians, currently among China's top-performing movies of 2026.
The event, titled Reel China – Premium Screening of Chinese Blockbusters, was held at the Nu Metro Cinema in the Hyde Park Corner mall. More than 100 guests attended the launch, including Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng, South African government and cultural representatives, media staff, overseas Chinese community members and students.

After the screenings, some South African filmmakers and cinema insiders said the two films impressed them not only with the scale of their production, but also in the way they blended action storytelling with Chinese cultural themes.
Coverage of the event was later picked up by media outlets in South Africa, Zambia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya and several other African countries, reaching a wider audience.
