China launched the world's largest offshore converter station, known as the "Heart of Offshore Wind," from Nantong, east China's Jiangsu Province, on Wednesday. Weighing 25,000 tonnes, the platform is headed for installation at an offshore wind farm in Yangjiang City, south China's Guangdong Province. The station will collect power from offshore wind turbines, convert it into high-voltage direct current and transmit it to the onshore grid through subsea cables.
