Colorful cloud phenomenon appears over Ergun

A colorful cloud formation, often referred to as a "rainbow cloud," was recently spotted over Ergun City in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Against a clear blue sky, the edges of the clouds displayed vivid gradients of red, orange, yellow and green, creating a striking spectacle that appeared to paint the horizon with colorful ribbons, resembling a scene from a fairy tale.

According to meteorologists, the phenomenon is a typical example of the Tyndall effect. Influenced by warm and humid air currents in recent days, the area has experienced abundant atmospheric moisture. When sunlight passes through the clouds at a low angle, tiny water droplets in the air scatter the light, producing the vibrant colors seen in the sky.
