Weak logistics and border bottlenecks used to be a major problem for goods traveling across parts of Southeast Asia and western China. Trucks sat for days at crossings. Ships waited for weeks. Costs piled up, and opportunities slipped away.

But the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has changed the way goods move. Infrastructure development has expanded international logistics networks and reduced transportation costs – generating positive economic returns and delivering tangible benefits to communities.
