Paris and Beijing-based French artist Lyes Hammadouche has brought a unique dialogue between East and West to life in his latest exhibition, which is now running at the Beijing Exhibition Center.

Hammadouche first arrived in China in 2017 as an award-winning artist through a Sino-French cultural exchange platform. Since then, he has split his time between France and China, immersing himself in Eastern culture while advancing his contemporary practice.

This cross-cultural experience allows him to reverse-translate Eastern aesthetics into a Western artistic framework, offering a vivid example of mutual cultural enrichment.

For this Sentience Loop-Sphere exhibition, Hammadouche is transforming the Beijing Exhibition Theatre's circular space to reflect the Eastern philosophical concept of a "heavenly circle." Visitors encounter a mesmerizing blend of kinetic installations: spinning hourglasses, resounding giant drums, shifting light and shadow, mirrored reflections, and algorithm-driven mechanical devices. Western symbolic elements intertwine with these features.

Hammadouche's work consistently navigates the tension between rigorous science and transcendental perception. Through meticulously woven structures, he seeks to reveal the underlying origins hidden beneath surface appearances, evoking the natural laws that govern existence.

The exhibition is listed as part of this year's "China-France Cultural Spring" series and will be on display until June 23, 2026.
