A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday that tariff and trade wars serve no one's interests in response to a query regarding the Trump administration's recent proposal to impose additional import tariffs on goods from certain countries.
China has consistently opposed unilateral tariff measures in all forms, spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing, adding that economic and trade issues should be resolved through dialogue and consultation based on equality, mutual respect, and mutual benefit.
