A launch ceremony was held in Vientiane on Tuesday for the screening of three Chinese documentaries including "The Heritage Guardian" in Laos.

Produced by China Media Group (CMG), "The Heritage Guardian" features vivid stories that reflect Chinese President Xi Jinping's deep concern for the inheritance and development of culture. It showcases his deep affection for cultural heritage and his profound thinking on preserving historical continuity and strengthening cultural confidence.

The documentary uses vivid examples to present China's practical efforts in the new era to trace the origins of civilization and protect cultural heritage, highlighting the profound, far-reaching, inclusive and ever-evolving nature of Chinese culture.

The other two documentaries are respectively about China's remarkable achievements since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, and the profound connotations and cultural value of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

In a congratulatory letter to the ceremony, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith said the documentaries embody Chinese philosophical wisdom and reflect Xi's deep commitment to the protection of cultural heritage, as well as his heartfelt love for China's five-thousand-year-long civilization.

Acknowledging the documentaries highlight how Chinese civilization serves as the root and enduring source of strength for the nation, which drives China toward the great dream of national rejuvenation, Thongloun said this offers an excellent reference for Laos as it seeks to protect and promote its unique national culture while advancing economic and social development and building its socialist cause.

CMG President Shen Haixiong expressed hope that the documentaries provide the people of Laos with a window into Xi's governance philosophy, helping them better understand Chinese culture, Chinese wisdom, the Chinese spirit, as well as appreciate the unique charm of China in the new era, while delivering a video address at the event.

Shen said CMG is eager to engage in mutual learning and exchange with friends from all walks of life in Laos, working hand in hand to contribute to the building of a high-standard, high-quality, and high-level China-Laos community with a shared future.

Starting Monday, those three documentaries have been broadcast successively on major media outlets in Laos, including Lao National Television and Lao National Radio.

More than 200 guests attended the event, including officials and media representatives from Laos, as well as members of the Chinese community and overseas Chinese.
