An 11-year-old boy with developmental and speech disabilities was found alive on May 30 after going missing on May 18 in the mountains of Huaiji County, south China's Guangdong Province. More than 1,000 rescuers, including police, firefighters, village officials and volunteers, joined the 13-day search. A police dog named Zhuifeng helped lead rescuers to a hidden ravine about 8 kilometers from the boy's home, where he was found in a weakened state but alive. Rescuers said the child smiled when he saw them and held tightly onto one of the officers as he was carried down the mountain.
