In response to recent actions taken by Japan and the Philippines, Columbia University's Jeffrey Sachs says Tokyo and Manila are just helping the US contain China. He pointed out that Japan has forgotten its own history of aggression, and the Philippines has given up its sovereignty. His warning to Manila? US bases won't keep you safe. They'll make you a target. Just look at the Gulf countries. His advice? Get the US military out, and become a truly sovereign nation.
