A rare glossy ibis has been filmed for the first time in the northernmost area of Gaoligong Mountain in southwest China's Yunnan Province. As the stunning bird was spotted near residential areas, local authorities have stepped up monitoring and public awareness efforts. Though it covers less than 1% of China's land area, Gaoligong Mountain is home to about one-fifth of the country's plants and mammal species, making it one of China's biodiversity hotspots.
