The Shanghai Sharks defeated the Guangsha Lions 103-82 in Game 5 of the CBA Finals on Friday, clinching the best-of-seven series 4-1 to capture their first league title in 24 years and their second championship overall.
Brandon Goodwin was named Finals MVP after helping lead the Sharks to their first title since the 2001-02 season.
Returning to their home court with Kenneth Lofton back in the lineup, Shanghai made a strong start, opening the game with a 5-0 run. Guangsha responded effectively after making adjustments following Game 4, but the Sharks maintained a narrow 28-24 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Sharks began to pull away after halftime by relentlessly attacking. Wang Zhelin and Kyle Fogg both stepped up, with Fogg scoring 12 consecutive points during a decisive stretch. Shanghai outscored Guangsha 27-22 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 76-69 heading into the final period.
Guangsha briefly cut the deficit to four points early in the fourth quarter, but Shanghai quickly restored control and never looked back. The Sharks dominated the closing stages, outscoring the visitors 27-13 in the final frame to seal a convincing victory.
Wang led Shanghai with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Goodwin contributed 25 points. Fogg added 17 points and Zhang chipped in with 13. For Zhejiang, Barry Brown scored a game-high 33 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists, while Hu Jinqiu recorded 20 points and nine rebounds.
Shanghai's championship capped a dominant season. The Sharks finished the regular season with a league-best 38-4 record and matched the franchise mark set in 2001-02 with a 23-game winning streak before completing their run to the title.
