The United States forces intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones launched by Iran toward the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf neighbors on June 5, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.
Iran fired seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain hours after CENTCOM shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, the statement said.
The US military said that it intercepted six of the missiles Iran launched and the seventh "did not reach its intended target."
"There are currently no reports of harm to US personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false."
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that it targeted US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain with ballistic missiles in response to US attacks. It also fired on four tankers attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz without its permission, the IRGC said in a statement.
Earlier on Saturday, air raid sirens were sounded in Bahrain and Kuwait air defences were intercepting "hostile missile and drone attacks," according to authorities.
