Chongqing Animation Film Week to screen nearly 40 global classics

Animation fans will have a chance to revisit childhood favorites and share them with their children as the 2026 Chongqing International Animation Film Week presents a diverse lineup of animated works from China and abroad.

Nearly 40 classic animated films will be screened at more than 30 cinemas across Chongqing from June 9 to 15. Free outdoor screenings will also be held in commercial districts and public squares.

Highlights include the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as well as all four Toy Story feature films.

Several titles will receive their first public screenings on the Chinese mainland, including the 1957 Soviet animated musical fantasy film The Snow Queen and the 1982 French science-fiction animated film The Time Masters, giving audiences a rare opportunity to experience these acclaimed animated classics on the big screen.

The 2026 Chongqing International Animation Film Week will take place from June 9 to 13. A total of 501 animated works from around the world were submitted to the event's main competition section, with 45 titles shortlisted.
