The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 471 Ebola cases and 84 deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda as of June 6. Nearly 100 new infections and 20 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, indicating ongoing community transmission. The WHO and the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) launched a $518 million, six-month continental preparedness and response plan on June 5 to contain the outbreak.
