Country/Region of production: Ireland/United Kingdom
Awards and nominations: Dublin International Film Festival 2026; Shanghai International Film Festival 2026
Synopsis:
500 Miles follows two young brothers, Charlie and Finn, who run away from their fractured family life in Yorkshire, England. Fearing that their parents' impending separation will tear them apart, the boys are desperate to stay together. Their journey takes them over land and sea to Dingle, on the west coast of Ireland, where their grandfather lives. Using whatever means they can find – buses, ferries, horses and boats – they push through every obstacle in the hope of rekindling the warmth of happier times and, ultimately, finding a way to remain siblings.
Why we recommend it:
500 Miles boasts an outstanding ensemble cast, including Roman Griffin Davis, Dexter Sol Ansell, Clare Dunne, and Michael Socha – all delivering memorable performances that elevate the film. But what truly makes this film a must-watch is its wholesome, heartfelt adventure. Beautifully shot from start to finish, the breathtaking cinematography captures the stunning coastal vistas of Dingle with such warmth and wonder that it will leave you longing to book a trip there yourself.
