The European Union is reported to be preparing new rules that would require companies in the bloc to diversify their supply chain and reduce over-dependency on a single country, particularly China. When asked to comment about the EU's move on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said that the EU's "over-dependency" claim has mislabeled market-based business choices, and "diversification" is a form of disguised protectionism that hurts EU competitiveness. He also reaffirmed China's attitude toward resolving China-EU economic and trade differences through dialogue so as to pursue win-win cooperation.
