A still from the film Human Resource. / 28th Shanghai International Film Festival

Director:

Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit

Genre:

Drama

Country / Region of production:

Thailand

Synopsis:

A Bangkok HR officer, Faren, is trapped under KPI pressure, screening job candidates while grappling with an unexpected pregnancy. With Thailand's legal abortion window closing, she must decide whether to bring a child into an uncertain world – questioning survival, motherhood and the future.

Why we recommend it:

From Thai director Nawapol Thamrongrattanarit, this film captures modern "progress fatigue" through a suffocating 4:3 frame. It reflects contemporary Thai society – urban density, workplace hierarchy and the obsession with stable jobs. Blending local storytelling with international production quality, the film ends with a brilliant car wash scene. This is a sharp, cold-eyed film about living with disappointment, not awakening.
